Bruce Vandenberg is a graduate of Kemptville Campus where he was chosen to be in an advanced Leadership Program from 1996-1998. He and 29 other candidates were given an opportunity to travel the east coast of Canada and South America studying agriculture methods and diversification. This was a very special time for him and probably helped him become the divergent thinker he had to be to take his business to the heights it has achieved to date. From successfully working a 100 acre farm and developing a small goat herd to produce cheese and milk at a small farm gate facility, Bruce and his wife Sharon have grown Lenberg Farms into a large acre cropping operation with a 2000 + breeding milking goat herd and sheep herd as well as Mariposa Dairy being one of the most recognized and respected cheese manufacturing facilities in the world. Not a month goes by without new milestones and accolades for superior goat and sheep cheeses, including awards from The American Cheese Society, The Central Ontario Cheesemaker Association, The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair, The International Cheese Awards, The World Cheese Awards, and The Canadian Cheese Awards. In addition, Mariposa has twice received the Premier’s Award for Agri-Food Innovation Excellence, awarded by the Minister of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs. In 2007 they were recognized for their new product Cranberry with cinnamon chevre, and in 2011 for their innovative MegaPress. Bruce and his wife Sharon have four wonderful children and thousands of goats. They are proud of them all…. particularly the children.
