Rosie Kadwell is a Registered Dietitian with the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit for over 30 years. Her main role is to facilitate the establishment of policies and environmental support to promote healthy eating and to ensure community food security through advocacy at the community level.
Rosie believes in the importance of collaboration and is instrumental in creating and strengthening community partnerships to support community food security. She chairs a grass roots committee, Harvest Haliburton and through this group Rosie has had the opportunity to work with municipal staff and consultants to address food policies at the local level. As a result of conducting a Community Food Assessment and developing a report “Haliburton County: Food and the Official Plan” Harvest Haliburton has been successful with integrating supportive food system language into their county and municipal draft Official Plans.
Rosie loves being active outdoors and is passionate about ensuring everyone has access to food and loves to try new recipes using local food and sharing her creations with others.
