Samantha has been farming alongside her husband in Ontario since they moved here from Saskatchewan in 2001. On their small diverse, certified organic farm they raise dairy cows, broilers, layers, as well having as gardens and orchards. She also spent a few years working in the commercial greenhouse and nursery industry, and she has been studying herbs since 1998. Recently, Samantha’s sister moved back from the UK to work with them so they could expand the farm and since then they have added an additional 130 acres, beef cows, turkeys, ducks, hay fields, and some small grain crops to their farm.
After selling for many years at the farm gate and an organic market in Ottawa, Samantha now runs Canada’s first Certified Organic year-round soybean-free Whole Farm CSA Program. Samantha also takes part in numerous speaking and teaching engagements each year, on farm workshops, and offers farm consulting. She is also the author of Farrow to Finish: Pigs On Your Organic Farm, a guidebook about raising pastured pigs from farrow to finish using organic methods.
